Boris PATERNU: How to Read »The Baptism on the Savica«

France BERNIK: Gregorčičeva poezija danes
France BERNIK: Gregorčič’s Poetry Today

Ključne besede: slovenska književnost | slovenska poezija | duhovniki | erotična poezija | domoljubna poezija | 19. st. | Slovene literature | Slovene poetry | patriotism | eroticism | priests | 19th century

Abstract: The author connects the question of the presen-day significance of Gregorčič's poetry with the reception of the poet's work in his time, i.e., the second half of the 19th c. Working towards the present, he stops in the area after World War II, in the 1950s and 1960s. Finally, he attempts to define the value of Gregorčič's poetry from the point of view of a contemporary reader with literary expetise and thematically define the poetical complexes that resounding today, this interpretation does not overlook the musicality of Gregorčič's verse, which is ab easily noticeable, but the least concrete pecularity of his poetry

Sinopsis: Razprava se posveča primerjavi treh pripovedi o liku in usodi pisarja, nastalih sredi 19. stoletja: Gogoljevem Plašču, Melvillovem Batrtlebyju in Ervajčevemu Aguštinu Ocepku.

Abstract: The focusses on the comparison of the narrative about the image and fate of a scribe, created in the 19th century: Gogol's The Overcoat, Melvill's Barteleby, and Erjavec's Avguštin Ocepek. Its goal is to analyze and explain the differences in the formulation of the same motif in Russian, American, and Slovene literature, i.e., in terms of form as well as content. Taras KERMAUNER: On One of the Aspects of My Literary Criticism (With Special Regard to Slovene Drama)

Ključne besede: literarna zgodovina | slovenska dramatika | literarne študije | vzor | vzgoja | smisel | literary criticism | Slovene drama | model | education | meaning

Ključne besede: slovenska knjževnost | slovenska poezija | moderna | humor | Slovene literature | Slovene poetry | Moderna | humor

Sinopsis: Namen tega prispevka o 'veselem' Ketteju ni podrobnejša analiza, temveč opozorilo na njegovo distinkcijo, drugačnost v pesniškem svetu moderne; na to, kako sta z Župančičem stopila na njeno drugo, svetlo, svobodno poloblo; kako ob vsej svoji nesporni veličini Cankar ni njena edina 'blagovna znamka'.

Abstract: The purpose of this article about the "merry" Kette is not to give a detailed analysis, but to point out his distiction in the poetic world of the Moderna; the fact that he and Župančič stepped to the other, bright, and unbound hemisphere; and that Cankar, despite his unquestionable greatness, was not its only "trademark".

The majority of these writers more or less followed the traditional ideal of the model for short narrative prose, only a small number of them sought other possibilities, e.g., F. Bevk, A. Cerkvenik, A. Čebokli, I. Dornik, M. Fabjančič, A. Podbevšek, I. Pregelj, etc.

Zoltan JAN: Bogomir Magajna’s Gornje mesto

Abstract: Taking into account the previous analyses, among which Franc Zadravec's studies occupy a particularly prominent place, the article analyzes the differences between the first (1932) and second (1957) editions of Bogomir Magajna's novel Gornje mesto. Jožica ČEH: Majcnova kratka proza v kontekstu moderne in njene slogovne značilnosti
Jožica ČEH: Majcen’s Short Prose in the Context of the Moderna and Its Stylistic Features

Analiza Majcnove kratke proze je postavljena v kontekst Ivana Cankarja in dunajske moderne. Lik otroške ženske, nasprotje med spoloma, tema umetnika in ženske, stilizirani opisi deklet, smrti ter literarnih prostorov povezujejo Majcnovo kratko prozo s Petrom Altenbergom ter motivno-tematskimi in stilnimi prvinami secesije.

Abstract: The article treats Majcen's short prose untill 1923, the main portion of which the author wrote during his student years in Vienna, i.e., between 1908 and 1913. The analysis of Majcen's short prose is placed in the context of Ivan Cankar and the Vienna Moderna. The image of a childish woman, the conflict between genders, the topic of an artist and a woman, stylized descriptions of girls, death, and literary spaces connect Majcen's short prose with Peter Altenberg and the motifs, thematic, and stylistic elements of Art Nouveau (Vienna Secession).

Abstract: The article discusses from the systemic-theoretical point of view Ivan Cankar's efforts to establish a new model of the Slovene literary writer, which he calls writer-artist, and for his professionalization. The artistic model has remained essential for Slovene literary author's (self)understanding until the present and it also affected the specific understanding of the literary intermediaries in Slovenia.

Miran ŠTUHEC: Esejistika Ivana Cankarja
Miran ŠTUHEC: Ivan Cankar as Essayist

Ključne besede: slovenska književnost | esej | književna esejistika | miselna proza | kritičnost | polemičnost | satiričnost | essay | essay writing | literary essay | intellectual prose | criticism | polemicism | satiricism

Sinopsis: Ivan Cankar zaseda v slovenski kulturni zavesti posebno mesto.

Abstract: Ivan Cankar occupies a special place in Slovene cultural awareness. His work had drawn the attention of his contemporaries and Slovene literary criticism always showed particular interest in it. In his very extensive opus that includes poetry, narrative prose, and drama, a prominent place is occupied by publicistic writing, i. e., political articles, essays, published speeches, critics, and polemics. Without a doubt, this is an important corpus, with which the author responded to many very and sometimes less buming issues of his time. They were typically related to historical, political, national, and cultural topics, in the nexus of which we sooner or later find Slovene literature and art.

HO. A. SOZINA: Franc Zadravec’s Research on the Contemporary Slovene Novel

Abstract: The author gratefully acknowledge that the first volume of Franc Zadravec's Slovenski roman 20. stoletja [Slovene 20th century novel] in providing good theoretical support in writing her dissertation, i.e., the Slovene literary scholar's analyses to a certain extent influenced the conception and internal direction of her work.

Silvija BOROVNIK: Slovenske književnice v Avstriji
Silvija BOROVNIK: Slovene Women Authors in Austria

Abstract: The article surveys literary work by mainly Slovene women poets in Austria. These are on the one hand Carinthian poets Milka Hartman, Maja Haderlap, and Cvetka Lipuš, on the other Maruša Krese, who lives in Germany, but has published most of her poems in Klagenfurt, and Milena Merlak Detela, who since the 1960s lived and worked in Vienna and published in Austria. Slovene authors seem to be special characters who fail to conform to the canons of the social or literary world. Unlike their male literary colleagues, they mostly deal with topics of nation, eroticism, and the woman's position in the modern world.

Cvetka HEDŽET TÓTH: The Exemplary Stance

Ključne besede: filozofija zgodovine | toleranca | utopija | solidarnost | etika | philosoph of history | solidarity | ethics | utopia | tolerance

Abstract: The article discusses the dilemmas of theory in the era after the collapse of Bolshevist Socialism. Both philosopy and all of humanities are faced with the question how to interpret the notion of progress and history in the so-called post-historic era, which has returned the theory to the pre-Kantian level; as a consequence, tolerance is becoming the predominant category. The "call "back to the nature" critically confronts cyclism and linearism and the article points out the importance of preserving the utopia and the ability of utopian thinking, since the idea of the humanities itself originated in utopia. The modern era, which means the renaissance of ethic or,rather, the ethnicization of the world, cannot ignore the anthropological bases of the utopian and/or anticipating consciousness, which is always of this world, internal to the world, and such, it does not allow anything from the beyond, avbsolute substantiation; however, it preserves the idea of immoratality.
