Abstract

The article deals with the way of expressing biological sex and its relation to grammatical gender in contemporary Slovenian and Czech texts, with special attention to the rules of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana and the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University in Prague. The research focuses on select grammatical elements of the two language systems, the communicative function of language in a text, and the reasonableness and ways to implement gender-fair language use in Czech and Slovenian texts.
