Proverbs in Slovene Narrative Folklore as Evidenced in Three Different Folktale Types

This article analyzes the text, structure, function and context of proverbs found in fairytale types ATU 980 “The Ungrateful Son,” ATU 296 “The Clay Pot and the Brass Pot in the River” and *ATU 71* “The Blackbird and March.” The proverbs and paremiological units discussed in this article come from ancient sources and books of wisdom, so they cannot be analyzed outside the context in which they were created, as they have deeper roots and also different developmental paths.
