The Secession in Croatian Kajkavian Poetry

The paper is based on the assumption that the Art Noveau stylistic complex as it can be recapitulated from earlier works (A. Stamać, V. Žmegać) is a kind of constant of the Kajavian part within Croatian literature between Modernism and Post-Modernism. With analysis and commnetaries of previous works the introductory part attempts to answer the question why it is during Modernism that a new poetic tradition in Kajkavian and Čakavian dialects occurred. Based on interpretation of poems by Dragutin Domjanić (Figurice, Park med alejami, Inje) and on a short descritption of collection of poems and some anthologies of Kajkavian lyric poetry, the author discovers Art Noveau (ornamentation, decorative) phenomena and examines their function in Croatian Kajkavian poetry and in the context of more recent Croatian literature in general.Downloads
