The Literary Work of Slovene Emigrants

Abstract

Literary work by Slovene emigrant writers can be divided into various complexes, depending on the specifics of their "common" topics, their typical literary styles and forms, their connection to or isolation from the contemporary "domestic" literature, how comparable the two of them are, the degree of the literary-aesthetic excellence, etc. Using reliable literary-aesthetic criteria, future analyses should point out all the Slovene emigrant literary work of lasting value and include it among the core works of Slovene literary history (surveys, lexicons, annotated collections of classical works) as well in the elementary, high-school, and college-level curriculum, the best works also among the required school texts.
