The article analyses the changing attitudes of Slovenian language standardisation to a group of loanwords which may be regarded as specific markers of cultured sociolects, in the offical standard usage guides of 1950, 1962 and 2001, and partly in the Dictionary of Standard Slovenian. Fifty years after these lexemes were marked as wrong or bad style, they achived the status of standard words with various labels of prestige. But although the introduction of style labels in Slovenski pravopis 2001 is an important (and long overdue) achivement, the making of the observed words is surprisingly erratic.Downloads
