The paper starts with a general description of the 16th-century language register situation and references to the terminology in Slovenian linguistics, then analyses the Register of Dalmatin's translation of the Bible by categorising lexemes into various professional fields. This shows that the basis for the development of professional language in Slovenian was very broad, which is why Dalmatin's Register was very important for the development of Slovenian.Downloads
