Abstract

In Alasia's word sacne, the masculine plural of Westrn Slovene Christian term *žaken (m.), gen. *-kna 'deacon' is preserved. Like Croatian žäkan (m.), gen. -kna also žàkan, gen. -kna, it represents an early South-Slavic Romanism originatig from lat. diaconus.
