Abstract

The article discusses the fate of the Austrian Carinthian writer Josef Friedrich Perkonig among Slovenes, between Slovene literature and German readership. It shows the links between him and and answers the question what role the Carinthian author played in cultural mediation an some of the Slovene intellectual elite of the time, which included his translator Drago Druškovič (Rok Arih),Herta Arko (with married name Kralj), Alojzij Benkovič, France Bevk, Vlado Habjan, Ivan Mrak, Anton Svetina, Silvester Škerl, and Lojze Ude. The analysis of the relationships between the Carinthian author and the aforementioned figures was based on the extensive correspondence preserved in the provincial archives in Klagenfurt.
