Abstract

The paper deals with the image of Protestant literature in older surveys of literature in Slovene lands, composed between 1560 and 1831 by Primož Trubar, Tomaž Hren, Janez Vajkard Valvasor, Janez Gregor Dolničar, Marko Pohlin, Valentin Vodnik, Jernej Kopitar, Heinrich Georg Hoff, Anton Rožič, Jožef Kalasanc Erberg, Franc Metelko and Matija Čop. Analysing their texts it explains the development of the attitude to the Reformation, especially to its literature, as it was formed by the educated Slovenes in the periods of Counter-reformation, Baroque and Enlightenment.
