Abstract

In the present article the author attempts to outline the phenomenon of the Slovene expressionist short prose between 1914 and 1935 with respect to the basic structural dimensions of the significant prose genres, such the novella, short sotory, vignette, and the poem in prose. The fundamental relationships and poetic controversies of the German expressionist movement vis-à-vis broader phenomena of the modernism and the avant-garde also confirm the medial position of this movement in the context of the Slovene avant-agarde. These statements, naturally, require scholarly explanation and verification on the most broadly conceived textual basis of the Slovene expressionist prose and its fairly representatives of various poetic-stylistic orientation.
