The first version of this article was written for the American encyclopedic reference work Dictionary of Literary Biography, South Slavic Writers, edited by Vas D. Mihailovich and published by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The article outlines the life and work of the most prominent Slovene female author. Temporally and developmnetally it follows the poetess' original volumes of poems in which she formulated her distinctive poetics, first in the dialogue with the contemporary existentialist poety, then as creative transformation of the folklore tradition. It also surveys her popular and children's literature, which received multiple awards.Downloads
