On the l-Participle in Slovene

Abstract

The article treats the morphological structure of the l-participle in Slovene, aiming to define in detail the morpho-syntactic meaning of the suffix-l. The author maintains that the suffix as a lexicographic unit is morpho-syntactically unmarked in terms of tense and aspect, but is consigned to the participial position in syntax because other, morpho-syntactically more specifically marked participial suffixes cannot be consigned to this position.
