The article questions the traditional viewpoint thar neither Centum nor Satem group of languages shows the traces of more than two kinds od tectals. Some Satem as well as Centum languages display reflexes of proto-language tectals. The survey of the alternative theories questioning the exsitence of the original tri-tectal system shows that they do not explain the situation in individual languages any better than the classic tri-tectal theory, which nevertheless needs to be reformulated.Downloads
