Jakob Šolar kot jezikoslovec (Ob stoletnici njegovega rojstva)
Keywords:
slovenščina, slovenski jezikoslovci, obletniceAbstract
Jakob Šolar was the most proactive among the first graduates of the University of Ljubljana Slavic Department. With the experience from his study of phonetics in Paris he rose in the field as a critic with the reviews of Breznik's an Ramovš's work, later on Bezlaj's and others', while being responsible for the phonetic part of the Slovene grammar and orthography, particulary after World War II. He also enchanced the growth of the grammar ofhis own generation and planned work for a more sophisticated word formation. He did not leave a larger linguistic opus, mostly because of his multifaceted interests and obligations, partially also because of interruption in his life and work shortly after World War II. He also deserves credit for a predominantly lexicological edition of Breznik's selected opus and for the presentation of his development.Downloads
