Abstract

By examining 16th century texts it has been possible for the first time to determinate the rules of the derivational system of the literary lexicon. The inventory of parts of speech from all of the Slovene Protestant Biblical translations, published in a dictionary format (2006), made possible a comprehensive register of adjectival derivatives. The linguistic analysis found the most productive derivational methods and models, higher or lower frequency of derivatives in the texts, and ratios between various derivational variants. With the support of the context, the derivational-semantic categories of the derived adjectives were determined.
