The author treats examples in selected works of contemporary Slovene short prose from the viewpoint of various forms of the thematization of violence. With regard to the prevailing type of violence displayed, two large gorups of short stories emerged, although it is also possible that in the one and the same work the elmentary features of each may be interlinked: individual violence (physical or psychological viololence of one or more persons on another or others and violence to oneself in the sense of self-harm and suicide) in the prevalent individualistic paradigm of contemporary short prose; and collective violence of a group upon the individual, which is presented as stuctural (systemic) violence of various social institutions on individuals and the group; this also includes ideological or transcendental violence.Downloads
