Abstract

The paper articulates Bakhtin's dialogism and Ducrot's polyphonic theory of enunciation as possible theoretical starting points for the reconstruction of the lyrical subject. In the first place, it deals with Bakhtin's assumptions on monologic nature of poetry and refutates them by his later concepts of metalinguistics. In the second part, it presents Ducrot's transfer of literary dialogism into the field of general linguistics outlining a short comparison with some key elements developed by Benveniste in his theory of enunciation.
