This article deals with Borislav Pekić's poetic principles in the development of his genre novel Rabies. It interprets the basic elements of narrative structure: narrative situation, space, time, composition, characters, techniques of intertextuality and documentarism, and text categorization in terms of genre. An analysis of these elements helps shed light on the poetic conventions that are characteristic of Pekić's narrative technique.Downloads
