The Idea of Slavdom in the Slovene Historical Novel
Keywords:
slovenska književnost, slovenska proza, zgodovinska povest, slovanstvoAbstract
In their commentary passages, the authors of Slovene historical novels propagate the concept of Slavic unity. On the level of story and characters they demonstrate the fear of all the foreigners, be Slavic or not, giving them predominantly negative roles. Numerous novels recall the Slovenes' negative historical experience with the neighboring Uskoki (the renegade Serbs who fled from the Ottoman rule to serve in the Austrian army).Downloads
