Zola's Examples in the Novel Hiša Marije Pomočnice

The paper deals with Zola's examples in Cankar's novel Hiša Marije Pomočnice (1904). It is derived from the assumption that Angelique, the character of The Dream (La Rêve, 1888), was the inspiration for some of Cankar's child characters; at the same time, the Slovene writer supposedly followed the example of Zola's descriptions of the church milieu. The novel Drunkard (L'Assommoir, 1887) supposedly influenced the themes of tragic popular celebration and the description of prohibited chils's sight.Downloads
