From the Ideal Language Structures to the Strategy of Realistic Speech

Abstract

The paper treats from a general linguistic point of view the question of speech comprehension, its systemic origin and real-world manifestations. Despite the marked imperfection of speech forms, the succsess of communications not threatened if the participants take into consideration the particular nature of communicative situations in accord with the intention of the spoken messages. The relationship between norm and usage remains, however, in the framework of the classical conceptualization of flexible stability.
