Independent da-forms in interrogative sentences in Bulgarian (as compared with Russian)
Keywords:
da-constructions, interrogative clauses, Bulgarian, imperfective aspect, general factual meaningAbstract
The analysis of Bulgarian da-questions shows that not all forms can realize the general factual meaning of the imperfective verbs (IPF). Thus, in both the independent da-questions with a predicate in present tense in Bulgarian and the questions with infinitive in Russian occurs the general factual meaning of IPF denoting a specific single action, thought as a fact. If the question concerns the plan of the past, then the forms of the perfect of IPF verb can express both specific general factual and existential general factual. Only in the latter case, а perfective verb cannot replace the imperfective one.
