The article thematizes selected aspects of work of the Serbian avant-garde poet Milica Kostić Selem, whose work is considered the precedent of the Yugoslav “black wave.” In this discussion, there is a focus on the motif circle of loneliness, despair, impermanence and love. That is to say, not only poetic motifs but also personal experiences and existential situations are examined. From deep, powerful experiences of the dark face of the world, an imposing opus and an interesting lyrical voice emerged, which, after the long silence of literary historians, should be listened to carefully and patiently.
